    Jurgen Klopp: Linked with Chelsea

    KLOPP RULES OUT CHELSEA MOVE

Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp admits he is honoured to be linked to the vacant Chelsea job, but says he has no interest in moving to London.
The German has been mentioned as a possible candidate, alongside with Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho and Barcelona's Pep Guardiola, but while Klopp is flattered he is happy in Westphalia.
"I can turn them down straight away," he told Sky television after his side's dramatic German Cup semi-final victory over Greuther Furth on Tuesday night.

"I will not be moving there. But I do think it is cool that I am being named in the same breath as Mourinho and Guardiola.
"That is enough for me - that is already a personal triumph, but I am not available, sorry."
Klopp took over as Dortmund coach just under four years ago and led them to a place in the Europa League in his second season in charge.
He followed that up with the club's first Bundesliga title since 2002 last season while they are now on course for a league and cup double having reached the final on Tuesday night.

They have a five-point advantage over Bayern Munich at the top of the Bundesliga with eight games of the season remaining.
The charismatic coach, who also works as a pundit for Germany's ZDF television at major international tournaments, extended his contract until 2016 in January this year.

Luis Suarez: Wants to stay at Anfield

    SUAREZ COMMITMENT PLEASES DALGLISH

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish is encouraged by news forward Luis Suarez wants to stay at the club.
The Uruguayan has been linked with a summer move to Paris Saint Germain after what has been a controversial first full season in England.
But former Ajax striker Suarez, who moved to Anfield in January 2011 in a 22.8million deal, dismissed the speculation and said he "would like to stay".
Suarez signed a five-and-a-half-year deal when he first joined Liverpool and is now expected to agree an extension at the end of the season.
Ahead of Wednesday night's game at QPR, Dalglish said: "It's certainly encouraging for us, although it might be bad news for the other Premier League teams.
"Luis has always said he is happy here, so it's great for everyone who supports us.

"I don't think he has been anything other than a threat to the opposition. So we are delighted with the wee man's comments and we have been delighted with him since he has been here.
"Luis has made a contribution every time he has stepped out on to the pitch. He scores goals, creates goals and it's great news that he is happy."

    Bolo Zenden: Former Sunderland midfielder

    ZENDEN BLACKBURN TALKS 'ONGOING'

Steve Kean has confirmed Blackburn are still trying to agree a deal to sign former Sunderland midfielder Bolo Zenden.
The 35-year-old has been without a club since leaving the Black Cats last summer and recently spent a few days training with Blackburn.
Zenden revealed he had been offered the opportunity to join Rovers' fight for Premier League survival, but was taking his time over a decision.

Championship duo Doncaster and Leeds have also been linked with moves to sign the former Holland international for the rest of the season.
However, Kean has not given up hope of persuading Zenden as he looks to add some vital experience to Blackburn's bid to beat the drop.
"It's ongoing," said Kean. "We've not tied anything up, but he's not committed to another club."

Rio Ferdinand and Frank Lampard are targets

    CHINESE EYEING FERDINAND AND LAMPARD

Chinese outfit Guizhou Renhe have confirmed their interest in signing Rio Ferdinand and Frank Lampard.
The Chinese Super League has a number of clubs looking to spend heavily, with Shanghai Shenhua having signed Nicolas Anelka in January.
And Renhe want to follow Shenhua's route of raiding the Premier League by signing Ferdinand and Lampard.
Guizhou chairman Wang Guolin is quoted by The Sun as saying: "I want the best team in China and we are prepared to invest a lot of money to bring Ferdinand and Lampard to us.

"Many people here watch the Premier League and know how good the two players are."
Leading agent Pini Zahavi, who is Ferdinand's representative, admitted that the Chinese clubs are ready to pay big money.
Zahavi said: "When the Chinese want to achieve something they do it. Football has become a big business for them now and they want to bring in the best players and managers."

    Hilario: Extends Stamford Bridge stay

    HILARIO SIGNS CHELSEA EXTENSION

Chelsea goalkeeper Hilario has signed a one-year contract extension, the club confirmed on Tuesday.
The 36-year-old therefore looks set to escape any summer clearout at Stamford Bridge and remain as back-up to undisputed number one Petr Cech.

Hilario, whose previous contract was set to expire this summer, joined Chelsea in 2006 as understudy to Cech.
He has made a total of 39 appearances for the Blues, keeping 18 clean sheets.

Jim Jefferies: Set for Pars role

    PARS POISED TO UNVEIL JEFFERIES

Dunfermline will unveil Jim Jefferies as their new manager at a media conference on Wednesday.
The Pars have announced they will confirm the appointment of a new boss at 12.30pm.
The announcement follows several days of negotiations with Jefferies and chairman John Yorkston told STV on Tuesday: "Jim has signed a contract with Dunfermline."
Jefferies, 61, has been out of work since being removed from his position as Hearts manager three games into the season, despite leading them to third place in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League last year.
The length of contract was thought to have been a stumbling block to a deal with Yorkston having admitted he would be happy with a short-term option. However, he today hinted Jefferies had signed a longer deal.

Jefferies has eight games to bridge a four-point gap on Hibernian to save the Pars from relegation from the SPL.
His first game comes against St Mirren on Saturday, where Dunfermline are seeking their first home win of the season, and the Fifers then face Dundee United and Hearts before the league splits.
The relegation battle will see Jefferies come up against long-time partner and school friend Billy Brown, now assistant manager of Hibs. The pair worked together from the 1980s with Gala Fairydean, Berwick, Falkirk, Bradford, Kilmarnock and in two spells with Hearts.
Meanwhile, midfielder Gary Mason believes staying up would be a tribute to Jim McIntyre, who was sacked on Friday.
"For one reason or another as players we have not produced, but with three games to the split, eight games in total we will give everything," the 32-year-old said on the club's official website.

"The manager never made excuses. All right, we might have had injuries but we need to deal with that situation.
"He has built up this squad over the four and a half years that he has been here and for us to stay up would be the greatest tribute. As players we want to go and finish the season on a high.
"We will keep believing. There are still points to be won but we cannot keep saying that, it has to happen. St Mirren will be a hard game on Saturday.
"It would be nice to get a home victory, it is too long and well overdue."
(reopens) Yorkston later told the club's official website: "We are delighted to secure the services of someone with a proven track record, someone with such a vast experience in football management."

Mellis: Leaves after a 'full and thorough' investigation

    MELLIS PARTS COMPANY WITH CHELSEA

Chelsea midfielder Jacob Mellis has left the club "by mutual consent" after he admitted setting off a smoke grenade at their training ground.
The Blues confirmed on Tuesday they and 21-year-old Mellis, who has played for the first team, had "parted company" following a "full and thorough" investigation into the incident which took place on March 2.
Team-mate Billy Clifford escaped with a fine after admitting he brought the grenade - understood to be from a paintball expedition - into Chelsea's Cobham training headquarters.

Clifford, 19, is a regular in Chelsea's reserves and signed a new four-year deal last summer.
Mellis, 21, joined the Blues from Sheffield United five years ago and made his debut in the Champions League win against Zilina in November 2010.
According to reports, the smoke grenade was set off in the reserve-team dressing room and trained fire marshals had to be brought in.
Players, officials and other staff from Chelsea's reserve, youth and academy teams ran from the building with hands covering their faces because of the thick smoke.
Owner Roman Abramovich was reportedly briefed about the incident, which occurred shortly before training at 10.30am and set off fire alarms and triggered a full evacuation procedure.

It was also the latest controversial episode to occur at Chelsea's training ground.
Last February, defender Ashley Cole accidentally shot and wounded a work experience student with an air rifle.
It is believed Cole did not know the rifle was loaded and he apologised to the student, who did not require hospital treatment.
And, late last year, a knife was discovered by cleaning staff in a dressing room at the complex, although this was thought to have belonged to a building contractor on the site.

    Terry Connor's Wolves are bottom

    JARVIS BACKING FOR CONNOR

Wolves winger Matt Jarvis says caretaker-boss Terry Connor remains "the man for the job" despite the club's slide to the bottom of the Barclays Premier League.
The midlands club have leaked 14 goals in four games under Connor and suffered their 10th home defeat of the campaign in the 5-0 reverse to Manchester United on Sunday.
There has been speculation Connor's position could come under threat even though he has been placed in charge until the end of the season as a temporary replacement for the sacked Mick McCarthy.
Yet Jarvis is adamant Connor retains the backing of the players ahead of the weekend encounter with Norwich at Carrow Road.

Jarvis said: "It is not easy for 'TC' but we are all behind him, working hard and giving 100% for him, ourselves and the club.
"He is still the man for the job, of course he is. He knows us all and is doing everything to try and turn things around.
"We are the same and hopefully we can repay him for his efforts and keep Wolves up. We are not going to give up.
"You see positive signs in training and from the shape of the team and the work-rate.
"Everyone knows their jobs and is working for each other.
"We just need to get a result, a bit of good fortune, and hopefully that will kick-start things."

Wolves hope midfielders Karl Henry and Nenad Milijas will be available for the Norwich game. The pair are poised to return to training after making good progress from hamstring and thigh injuries respectively.
They are still awaiting news on the fitness of another midfielder, David Davis, who suffered a suspected broken rib in the loss to United.

Roberto Di Matteo: No conspiracy against Villas-Boas

    DI MATTEO DENIES CONSPIRACY TALK

Roberto Di Matteo has slammed suggestions he stabbed Andre Villas-Boas in the back in the lead-up to the Portuguese coach being axed by Chelsea.
Di Matteo worked alongside Villas-Boas during his troubled time in charge at Stamford Bridge and says there was no fall-out between them before Roman Abramovich decided to act.
Some reports have suggested Di Matteo may have conspired against Villas-Boas, but the Italian has blasted the rumours.
"I did my best and Andre knows it," Di Matteo told Eurosport.

"I did not conspire against him and all the decisions we took, we took together.
"I have always behaved with the utmost professionalism and loyalty towards the club, the staff, the team and fans."
Di Matteo, who has guided Chelsea to four wins out of four since replacing Villas-Boas, believes he deserves his chance of managing the Blues until the end of the season.

"I deserve my new role," added Di Matteo. "How can you hesitate when you have the opportunity to manage one of the most important football clubs in the world?
"All new managers inevitably replace a colleague when things go wrong or results are not up to expectations. This is the nature of football."

    Klaas Jan Huntelaar: Hot property

    SCHALKE KEEN TO KEEP HUNTELAAR

Schalke are prepared to break the bank in a bid to keep Klaas Jan Huntelaar on their books in the long term.
The Dutch striker could become the club's highest-ever paid player by signing a new deal beyond 2013 after impressing this season.
The former Real Madrid and AC Milan striker has scored 38 goals in 37 appearances for the Royal Blues in all competitions this campaign, attracting the interest of several top European clubs as a result.
And general manager Horst Heldt wants to warn them away from the 28-year-old by making him an offer he cannot refuse.
"If we want quality, then we have got to push ourselves to the pain barrier," he told the Bild newspaper.

"We will not tie Huntelaar to the negotiation table and torture him, but he does know that we really value him here, and he feels happy here too."
Schalke are keen to extend Huntelaar's contract before the end of the season since he reportedly has a clause in his current deal which would allow him to leave the club if an offer in excess of 20million euros is received.
