French viewers are more and more interested in both live and delayed TV, and watch it on multiple devices and screens as well as on the go, according to latest Mediamétrie’s Global TV survey.
The survey found that in all 16 million people are regularly using catch-up TV services, which is 4 million more over one year (+36 %) while 11 million individuals are watching TV on screens other than TV sets. For a fifth of French users, the PC is the favourite platform to watch catch-up TV while the TV scores the highest growth in usage. Already 8% of French viewers have accessed catch-up TV programmes from their TV set.
This growth is mainly due to the high French penetration rate of ADSL TV and the steady development of TV channels’ catch-up TV offers. Smartphones, game consoles and tablets are continuing to gain new catch-up TV users Mediamétrie’s Global TV survey added.
