Discovery en Español unearths record Q1 ratings

Discovery en Español, the #1 Spanish-language nonfiction network in the United States, has recorded its best quarter for ratings on record in primetime among Hispanic households in general as well as the 18-49 demographic.
The net captured the No. 1 ranking at 10 and 11 p.m. for the first quarter of 2012, and especially dominated in the 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 demos for 10 p.m. These increases are attributed to good performances by Crimenes Millonarios (1.3 million viewers) and Pesadilla en la Ciudad (1.1 million viewers).
In addition, the network maintained its No. 2 position in primetime in general for the third consecutive year among, with an increase of 8% in the network’s core audience of 18-49 compared to the same period last year, and a 7% increase among Hispanic households. A strong component of this growth was the network’s female audience, posting a 22% increase among 18-49 viewers versus Q1 2011.
Discovery en Español also topped the quarter with its popular Discovery Presenta block, which continued to capture large audiences on Sunday nights with strong programs and specials including its top performing original production Deportados, which brought in 171,000 people aged 18-49.
