SALISBURY, Md. — Messiah scored four runs in the top of the ninth inning to stun Salisbury on Monday, overcoming a 3-2 deficit to come away with a 6-3 win. The Falcons, down to their last three outs and facing a potential fourth consecutive loss, received RBI hits from three different players in the ninth.
In the pivotal and final frame, junior Matt Turman led off with a single. After a flyout by senior Sam Tajiri, Turman stole second and scored on a double by sophomore Jon Lapp. Senior Ryan Brown followed with an RBI single up the middle, with junior Paul Mellinger bringing Brown around to score with a double down the right field line. Mellinger would later score on an error.
Sophomore Paul Broomell started the game for the Falcons, giving up two earned runs over three innings before giving way to junior Galen Halteman. Halteman pitched five innings of one-run ball before senior Zach Adams earned the save with a scoreless ninth inning.
