ViendoMovies, the 24-hour Spanish-language film channel, has a special slate of content planned for Cinco de Mayo.
It will broadcast 29 films representative of the best of the Mexican contemporary cinema, including La Ultima y Nos Vamos, which follows the events of Friday night in Mexico City for people of different social classes, and Travesia del Desierto, about an entrepreneur obsessed by an indigenous legend who is facing the death of his wife.
Cinco de Mayo celebrates that date in 1862, when the Mexican army defeated the French, despite a disadvantage of 2 to 1. "We in ViendoMovies," said President and CEO of SOMOSTV, Luis Villanueva, "celebrate the festivities of all the nationalities of the Latino market and we could not pass the importance that the 5th of May has for the biggest community in our market."
