In New Zealand the switch to digital TV will begin in less than five months, and 84% of households are ready for it.
The country will make the changeover in stages, with Hawke's Bay and the West Coast of the South Island the first to make the move on 30 September, while the Otago region will switch on 28 April next year. After the switch, households that want to continue watching TV will need to have Freeview or Sky.
Going Digital National Manager Greg Harford reminded viewers to think about video or DVD recorders as well as TVs, which will also need to go digital if they are to continue receiving and recording pictures.
