Grupo Imagina’s Globomedia, producer of top rated shows like ‘Aguila Roja’ or' or Aida ', and Mexico’s largest media group Grupo Televisa have reached a framework agreement for the establishment of a joint production company.
The new concern will set out to develop content for television aimed at Spanish and international markets, with the rights to adapt the catalogue of Grupo Televisa in Spain, including the rights for Spain's Sony catalogue of fiction. It will also aim to launch original productions.
The alliance is the result of the entry of Grupo Televisa in the shareholding of Imagina Media Audiovisual, a holding company which also owns Globomedia as part of the transaction which closed with the merger of Antena 3 and La Sexta.
Expressing his satisfaction with the deal Globomedia’s President Daniel Ecija said: "We are happy to create this production with our partners in Mexico. We believe it is a very important agreement that enhances international expansion Globomedia. Will be very fruitful for both parties."
For his part, President of Television and Content of Grupo Televisa, Joseph Staff, added: "the agreement with Globomedia is an important step to strengthen the presence of Grupo Televisa in Spanish-speaking world and in Europe by a great partner, as in the content business a key part of growth is in sales of formats, co-production agreements and synergies with experts.
