Hispasat gets boost from Spanish government

The Spanish government is finalising a plan to boost the country’s leading satellite operator and also the main one operating in Latin America.

The government is organising a plan to boost Hispasat within the coming weeks, including new investments announced by the Forum’s Europe Secretary of State for Telecommunications, Victor Calvo-Sotelo.

The plan for Hispasat, according to the Secretary of State will be to seek to reconcile the interests of defence to ensure the control of military communications, with effective control of the investee Hisdesat, and the development of a generic sector such as satellite, the Government sees strong growth and great business opportunities, mainly abroad.

The Spanish satellite operator manages the orbital position of 30º West with the Hispasat satellites 1C-1D-1E which offers free TV channels and also the Amazonas satellite fleet for LatAm
