Sky Atlantic HD secures German cable carriage

Sky Atlantic HD, the new series, movie and entertainment channel to be launched by Sky Deutschland on 23 May 2012, has secured cable carriage throughout Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Distribution agreements have been signed in Germany for example with Unitymedia, Kabel BW, NetCologne, Tele Columbus and KMS, the pay-TV broadcaster announced in Munich. DTH satellite households can receive the channel via Astra (19.2° East).

Sky Atlantic HD will also be available nationwide in Austria, for example on the cable networks of UPC Austria, Liwest, Kabelplus, Salzburg AG and Cablecom. In Switzerland, domestic pay-TV operator Teleclub will carry the channel on its new HDTV platform via cable, satellite and IPTV.

Sky Atlantic HD will debut the new series and feature films of US broadcaster HBO as exclusive first-runs in German-speaking Europe. The first highlight will be the second series of fantasy series "Game of Thrones". The channel will also screen late-night show "Harald Schmidt Show" with celebrity TV host Harald Schmidt which will launch on 11 September 2012.
To give viewers a glimpse at the programme line-up, Sky Atlantic HD will be available to all Sky customers with an HD receiver between 23 May and 10 June without additional charge. For access after the free period, subscribers have to sign up for the movie package.
