Switzerland's largest cable operator, UPC Cablecom, has recorded growing customer figures for its triple play services in Q1 2012.

The number of customers for digital TV, internet and telephony rose by 82,300 in the first three months of the year. With 56,700 new customers, digital television recorded the most additions. In Q4 2011, only 35,500 new digital TV customers were recorded.

The subsidiary of US media company Liberty Global attributes the strong growth mainly to the addition of further HD channels. On 5 June, the number will be further increased with the launch of HD simulcasts of 3+, Sat.1, ProSieben, kabel eins, 13th Street and Glitz, among other services.

The number of internet customers rose by 12,900 to 569,700 in Q1 2012 while the number of telephony customers grew by 12,700 to 376,000.

The total number of cable customers (1.5 million) mainly increased due to the acquisition of further cable networks (Kreuzlingen, Gais AR) serving a total of 11,700 households.
