Hainan Network Televisions signs UTStarcom for IPTV platform
Hainan Network Television has signed a deal with networking solutions provider UTStarcom to build an integrated IPTV broadcasting control platform.
The new platform will support the content management and distribution needs of IPTV, internet TV and mobile TV.
UTStarcom president and CEO Jack Lu said: "This new platform will cover all of Hainan province and provide approximately 100,000 household subscribers with digital, high-definition, and bi-directional IPTV.
It will also enable HNWTV to centrally manage their television content distribution, storage, advertising posting, and subscriber data information.
"We are excited to have won our second contract in this current phase of China's network convergence plan, as we continue to expand our market share and look to a smooth and accelerated development of the interactive media industry in the second half of 2012."
Since 2010, UTStarcom has built nine other IPTV broadcast control platforms across China, in Beijing, Hubei, Hunan, Shandong, Shenzhen, Sichuan, Tianjin, Zhejiang, and Chongqing. It delivers packaged solutions that include software and infrastructure development, content delivery network (CDN) support, and IPTV, Internet TV and mobile TV integration support.
