A+E Networks has announced the launch of the channel History HD in Turkey on digital platform, Digiturk. The announcement was made by Dean Possenniskie, Managing Director, EMEA for A+E Networks.

The fully localised channel will broadcast 100% HD content, and will offer the same schedule as the standard definition service of the channel, which first launched in Turkey on Digiturk in 2002.

As part of the agreement, Digiturk will also be acquiring several hours of History programming for its VOD service, as well as History 3D content.

“We are very pleased to continue our long-standing partnership with Digiturk with the launch of History HD in Turkey,” said Possenniskie. “History has a significant library of stunning HD content covering a diverse range of topics. I am confident that this new channel will appeal to viewers in Turkey.”

Digiturk’s head of content and acquisition, Esra Özaral Altop, said, “At Digiturk, we are delighted to extend our great and long-lasting partnership with A+E Networks through the launch of History HD. We are excited to give our subscribers the complete History experience through our VOD service and 3D programming.”
