Premium movies are being lined up on demand on the same day as they are released in cinemas following a tie up between UAE IPTV operator Du, its London-based service management partner On Demand Group, and distributor Front Row.

The first film to form part of the deal is Marley, the documentary about Jamaican musician Bob Marley.

"We're very pleased to bring more of the latest in premium movie content from one of the Middle East's most prestigious independent film distributers to du's video on demand service. This deal further enhances the appeal of the service and will demonstrate the tremendous potential for on demand TV services that offer the consumer full control, convenience and choice to watch the latest movies whenever they want," said Tony Kelly, chief executive officer, On Demand Group.

Farid Faraidooni, Chief Commercial Officer, du added: "With On Demand Group and Front Row, our customers will now be able to enjoy the latest movie releases in the comfort of their own home on the day they are released in theatres – yet another value-added benefit that will put them ahead of the entertainment game."

Movies on Demand from du is a transaction-based service drawing on a library of over 500 Hollywood, Bollywood and Arabic films – part of du's larger video on demand service, which launched in 2009.

Speaking about the deal, Gianluca Chakra, Front Row added: "We're excited to bring top-notch content to du and encourage this premium release medium. Families and friends can now watch recent cinema releases for AED30 in the comfort of their homes, charged to their monthly bill and practically the cost of a ticket price."
