46.9 million German Internet users viewed at least one video on the net in March 2012. The number of people watching videos online has thus grown by 2.3% over the past year.
According to new figures compiled by market research company comScore, the average time spent per viewer watching online videos has increased by 33.7% to a total of almost 27 hours in the 12-month period.
Google sites remain the most popular video destination, reaching 35.4 million unique viewers in Germany in March 2012, almost completely thanks to YouTube (99.7%).
Number 2 with 14 million viewers were the websites of commercial TV group ProSiebenSat.1, for example MyVideo and maxdome. The third slot went to United Internet (9.9 million viewers), mainly attributed to its popular e-mail web portals GMX and Web.de.
