Leading UK independent film distributor and production company Revolver Entertainment has launched what it claims is the world’s first social video-on-demand (So-VOD) service on Facebook.

The new FiNDWATCHSHARE integrates the discovery, sharing and viewing of Revolver’s library of films including new releases and catalogue titles. The sharing capability is said to be a unique aspect of the video service, enabling users who share films with their Facebook friends to save up to 50% on the purchase price as well as accessing the latest film news and features, special promotions and exclusive content. As well as going through Facebook, FiNDWATCHSHARE users can also rent and buy films through services such as iTunes, and Amazon.

As part of the rollout, Revolver worked with social service development company Softwind Studio who has deployed video on demand services for Top Gear and Doctor Who, for BBC Worldwide. The video hosting solution for FiNDWATCHSHARE is powered by cloud content provider BrightCove.
With nearly 23 million views on YouTube, Revolver says that it is an expert in social media marketing. Commented CEO Justin Marciano: “FiNDWATCHSHARE was a natural progression in both our distribution and marketing strategy. We wanted to create an immersive and fun way for people to discover and access films in different ways; on their favourite devices - and when and where they want - and to reward them for it. We believe the platform of So-VOD has huge potential moving into the future. We are currently considering offers from third parties to partner us moving forward, as we look to roll out the platform internationally, expand its content, and extend its reach.”

Revolver is offering other territories the opportunity to be involved in FiNDWATCHSHARE as it looks to expand by rolling out the license internationally, and inviting additional content from third-party partners.
