The Confederation of African Football (CAF) estimates that 6.6 billion cumulative television viewers followed the Africa Cup of Nations, co-hosted by Gabon and Equatorial Guinea in January and February 2012.

TV exposure of the 32 match football tournament amounted to 87,072 hours – 59,965 hours more coverage than was provided during the 2010 tournament hosted by Angola.

"We are quite confident that we will break new records for the coming edition in South Africa next year," said Amr Shaheen, Marketing & TV director, CAF.

France-based Sportfive is the exclusive marketing partner for the Orange-sponsored African Cup of Nations and many other CAF hosted football events in Africa.
