CTC Media snaps up stations

Russia’s CTC Media has acquired the regional stations BelTV and TRK MY, which are based in Belgorod and Bratsk respectively.
BelTV currently broadcasts CTC Media’s main channel CTC free-to-air and has a potential audience of around 380,000 viewers.
Belgorod’s weight in the TNS Russia measurement panel is meanwhile 1.9 percentage points.
TRY MY, on the other hand, broadcasts CTC Media’s Peretz channel free-to-air and reaches 340,000 viewers in Bratsk, which is weighted 0.36 percentage points by TNS Russia.
CTC Media, which lists MTG as its largest shareholder, acquired 21 TV stations in 18 towns and cities in 2010-11.
According to Boris Podolsky, its acting CEO and CFO, the broadcaster’s plans for this year include increasing the level of penetration of “first and foremost for the Domashny and Peretz TV channels, which stood at 84.9% and 80.1% respectively last year. The figure currently stands at 94.7% for the CTC channel.”
