Axel Springer Digital TV Guide, the multimedia subsidiary of Germany's largest publishing house Axel Springer, has taken over recommendation technology Aprico from Philips. Financial details have not been disclosed.

Axel Springer Digital TV Guide has already been using the system for 4 years for recommendation-based and personalised TV services such as "watchmi - Personal Television from TV DIGITAL" . Through the acquisition, the company will be able to offer solutions for electronic programme guides (EPG) completely out of one hand.

"We see a clear market trend towards increasingly personalised programme and TV offerings and a growing relevance among users and advertising partners," Stephan Zech, managing director of Axel Springer Digital TV Guide, said in Hamburg. "With the bundling of our editorial and technological competences, we will further develop our innovative solutions and expand our digitalisation strategy."
