Swiss pay-TV broadcaster Teleclub has now enabled reception of its package on flat-screen TV sets with an integrated digital receiver through technology provided by international technology company NDS, meaning a separate set-top box is no longer required.
The technical foundation is a common interface module (CI+) which also enables reception of Teleclub's HDTV channels. Besides TV sets with a CI+ slot, the package can also be received on a larger number of set-top-boxes, including DVRs.
Through the opening for CI+, viewers gain more variety in the choice of reception devices. The CI+ module is based on the conditional access system VideoGuard developed by NDS.
"CI+ modules provide users with greater flexibility in their hardware choice - and with that, more ways to enjoy our service," Wilfried Heinzelmann, member of Telclub's executive board, said in Zurich. "By employing robust content protection from NDS, we are fulfilling the security requirements of our content partners to ensure that their content remains protected," he added.
