French online video users spend a third of their time on TV players

Some 47% of French online video users, which is 14.4 million, watched at least one video on the player of a TV channel, in the first quarter of 2012.
During the same period, TV channels confirmed their leading position as key players in online video, according to a new study from Médiamétrie. Time spent by online video users on TV players now equals to a third, and this share has kept increasing in Q1.
Last January viewers spent 25% of their time watching video on TV players, compared with 30% in February and 33% in March. Some 59% of the viewing time is dedicated to other video portals such as Google/YouTube, Dailymotion, or Allociné and Vimeo. The leading TV channels players are TF1/Wat, Canal+/I>Télé, France Télévisions, M6 and BFM TV.
