Post How to install OSCam on Debian and Ubuntu

    1) Prepair for compile with installing new needed packs:

    Code:
    sudo apt-get install build-essential
    sudo apt-get install libssl-dev libpcsclite-dev
sudo apt-get install mercurial cvs subversion libncurses-dev
    sudo apt-get install cmake
    2) Oscam compile:

    2.1 Download OSCam

    Code:
    cd /usr/src
    sudo svn co http://oscam.to/svn/oscam/trunk oscam
    2.2 Compile OSCam

    Code:
    cd oscam
    sudo cmake -DWEBIF=1 -DPCSC=1
    sudo make

    2.3 Copy OSCam Compiled file

    Code:
    sudo cp oscam /usr/local/bin
    3) Unused oscam compile directory delete:

    Code:
    cd ..
    sudo rm -rf oscam
    4) Setting oscam to correct attribute:

    Code:
    cd /usr/local/bin
    sudo chmod 755 oscam
    5) Oscam automatic startup with bootup

    EDIT RC.LOCAL FROM NORMAL WINDOW
    Code:
    nano /etc/rc.local
add next line before the "exit0" line, /usr/local/bin/oscam -b -r2

    in server edition type
    Code:
    sudo pico /etc/rc.local

    PUT CONFIG FILES IN USR/LOCAL/ETC

Re: How to install OSCam on Debian and Ubuntu

I think your question is about upgrading the current oscam asin the one already installed..

    Two options;

    1) Download a newer binary for your hardware/OS
    2) Setup a build-environment, and checkout / compile your own latest release (see the oscam wiki:

Wiki build page currently seems to have a mysql problem, but this will be fixed soon.

Re: How to install OSCam on Debian and Ubuntu

please excuse my arrogance but I believe the problem is related to reading difficulties and absolute lack of Linux knowledge

Ubuntu and Debian are not so different ( when it comes for average user)
everybody has to start from somwhere - but never copy paste the code!!!!
you may copy paste your computer "death sentence" in that way
it is always a good idea to analyse what is written by others
besides the command list for Oscam install / update is very simple - and if to think at least little bit ( it would take about 20 min to use google) you will understand it is the same for update and install

P.S I do not understand why many people going for such a complex setups, when in most cases likes of dm800/ VU is really enough
(one of my friends running Oscam Server for the past 2 years on Router - to compare dm800 has faster CPU and more memory)
because if you copy /paste binary while using debian you can do the same on STB ( besides you will have less AU problems)
    thanks

Re: How to install OSCam on Debian and Ubuntu

I tried to install oscam in ubuntu 14.04lts and when I got here gave me this error. = sudo svn co

svn: E175013: Unable to connect to a repository at URL 'http://oscam.to/svn/oscam/trunk'
svn: E175013: Access to '/svn/oscam/trunk' forbidden
    what to do?

    thanks for the answers
