Prisa TV’s Canal+ Spanish channel is to get with the tablet revolution with an iPad play from 1 July.

The Iberian satellite and the internet pay-TV operator has already developed a PC product, Jazztel, over the web, and via the Xbox game console and Samsung connected TVs.

The proposition is two-fold: the free iPhone application allows users to access 18 Canal + channels whilst PC-based Yomvi Canal + users can pay €15 euros per month for the Canal+ 1 Channel, Canal + and Canal + Extra Spanish films and access to the cinema box office without a permanent contract.

"We think with a million iPhone in Spain was the ideal device to take the plunge. Not only for its quality, but the revolution has meant the arrival of this platform for the audiovisual world," the company said in a statement.

Added Pablo Romero, head of Canal + Yomvi content: "We want to be where the uswer is with…our seal of quality and excellence. In applying for iPad [access] Yomvi [will offer] access to movies, concerts, music, football and more sports among which NBA and Wimbledon. "

From Autumn 2012, the company will begin to offer Yomvi across Mac, PC and the Xbox from Microsoft.
