Australian ISP Primus Telecom is to launch an IP-delivered TV service over its network. The service will be provided through its residential division, iPrimus, which offers broadband services (DSL, 3G and fibre), home phone, mobile and VoIP services.

iPrimus IPTV will distribute free-to-air channels, pay television channels (e.g: the Disney channel), and sports programmes. The exact launch date has not been announced.

According to Primus, the service is at an advanced planning stage and will be run over its fibre network, which is being incorporated into the Australian National Broadband Network (NBN). Primus is planning on using its IP-delivered TV service to drive customer additions to its own fibre offering before the roll-out of the NBN is complete, and then plans to transfer them to the NBN at a later stage.
