German commercial broadcaster RTL will offer music fans the opportunity to create their own personalised music TV service. Through a Facebook hook-up, friends can automatically see which music videos the user is currently watching.
The service, called Dooloop (http://www.dooloop.tv), contains more than 42,000 music videos, from both large music companies and independent labels. The user's individual musical taste is recognised through Facebook's ‘Like’ function. By clicking a button, Dooloop will play music videos from the artists or bands a user has marked as ‘I like’ in the personal profile.
The playlist can be further individualised by clicking on the songs a user particularly likes: The playlist will immediately be reshaped to include similar songs. Users simply wanting to lean back can also opt for a playlist composed by Dooloop's editorial team.
The free-of-charge, advertising-supported service is operated by RTL's video portal Clipfish.
