German children's channel RIC gets licence

The licencing commission ZAK of Germany's media authorities has granted Munich-based media company Your Family Entertainment (YFE) a broadcast licence for its planned children's and family channel RIC.

According to ZAK, the channel will screen entertainment programmes from various genres for the whole family. The launch is planned for September 2012 via cable, satellite and Internet. The licence is valid for seven years.

The plans for RIC ( became known at the end of 2011 ( The channel will be distributed for DTH households as a digital free-to-air offer on Astra (19.2° East).

YFE already operates pay-TV channel yourfamily which is available in German-speaking Europe and was expanded to Eastern Europe in November 2011.
