J Food & Culture TV is to launch a new channel by 2013 called Hello! Japan HD, with technical partner GlobeCast.

Hello! Japan HD will be the first private Japanese channel to be available internationally and will provide a range of broadcast services, including playout and satellite distribution. It will cover a variety of genres including drama, news, entertainment, movies and anime cartoons.

According to MediaMughals, GlobeCast will receive the channel's feed at its Singapore technical operations centre, where playout will be performed and the feed encoded and sent via fibre to GlobeCast's Hong Kong teleport for satellite uplink.

GlobeCast's work on Hello! Japan HD will range from creative services, such as building the channel's branding strategy and promotions, to technical services such as playout and satellite delivery services using GlobeCast's Asian satellite capacity. It will also work with the channel on distribution rights and content syndication.

Darby Sanchez, CEO of GlobeCast Asia, said: "We are pleased and honoured to be part of Hello! Japan HD's international HD growth. This use of our expertise and capabilities to furnish a well-rounded range of services exemplifies how we truly provide value for our clients. "At GlobeCast, we pride ourselves on being able to work with a channel from its conception to distribution."

Mikio Mori, CEO of J Food & Culture TV, added: "This is an exciting period for us to be able to launch Hello! Japan HD internationally, delivering high-quality programmes in high definition while also localising our programming. Our aim is to bring our Japanese culture to a wider audience on a global scale."
