German TV group ProSiebenSat.1 will launch the Austrian version of its German women's channel sixx on 3 July 2012.
The channel will replace Austrian commercial general interest channel Austria 9 which the company took over in March 2012 (http://www.rapidtvnews.com/index.php...austria-9.html).
Austria 9 will cease broadcasting on 3 July at 11.59 CET. Following a countdown, sixx Austria will launch at 20.15 CET with the romantic comedy 27 Dresses.
The channel will be available on all transmission slots currently occupied by Austria 9 via cable, satellite and IPTV, thereby reaching around 80% of Austrian TV households.
Like its German counterpart, sixx Austria will show movies, series, telenovelas, reports, docu-soaps and reality and lifestyle programmes for a female audience between 18 and 49 years of age.
The 24-hour schedule will also comprise repeats of productions compiled for its sister channel Puls 4 which specifically targets the Austrian audience, for example the cooking show Koch mit! Oliver! and model casting show Austria's next Top Model.
The free-to-air channel will be financed through advertising and sponsorship.
