Two days after France Télévisions launched the DTT HbbTV restart service Salto, M6 has also announced further developments into conected and social TV with a new and interactive version of its catch-up TV service M6 Replay.
The new website gathers all M6’s channel content whether it's available in free catch-up or in SVoD. It also embeds new apps dedicated to second screens (PC and Mac, iPhone, iPad at first). Called Devant ma TV and synchronised in real-time with the TV feed, this platform offers additional services to help viewers get detailed information on a show, make live comments, or share comments on a Facebook synchronised account. Viewers are notified on the TV set screen when the app is available.
The platform also allows users to start a programme on TV, to flow it afterwards on a smartphone or a tablet. According to M6, this innovation is the first synchronised second screen service launched in Europe and the group, looking for additional ad revenues, hopes brand will also use it to interact with consumers.
A recent study by NPA/CSA revealed last month that three viewers out of four consult a second screen while watching TV, and 50% of them are doing it in relation with the TV programme.
