The Sundance Channel is expanding its TV Everywhere presence in Spain, with new apps for the iPhone and iPad, launched under the auspices of Telefónica's IPTV service, Movistar Imagenio.

The network also recently became available in Spain on Android and Blackberry smartphones. Robert Redford's brainchild, the Sundance Channel offers range of independent films (in a nod to the annual indie filmfest), documentaries and original programmes. It has been available as an SD and HD 24/7 linear channel in Spain on Movistar Imagenio since June 2011, and offers a range of video on demand (VOD) options as well.
"Sundance Channel's launch on iPhone and iPad devices on Movistar Imagenio in Spain is a key development in the growth of our multi-platform distribution strategy internationally," said Bruce Tuchman, president of AMC/Sundance Channel Global. "Consumer and distributor demand for TV Everywhere access continues to grow worldwide, and we are uniquely positioned to offer broad rights for our high quality, globally renowned entertainment."
Sundance Channel will debut new film and documentary premieres in July in Spain, including Bienvenido a Farewell-Gutmann, A Delicate Balance, The Wings of the Dove, The Yards, Sexo Con Amor, Restoration, Kimjongilia and A Flash of Green. Season 2 of the acclaimed series Mad Men will continue to air throughout the month, along with other original programmes such as The Slap, Intelligence, The Fabulous Beekman Boys, Man Shops Globe and more.
