    Michu makes Swansea move

Swansea have completed the 2million signing of Rayo Vallecano midfielder Michu.

    Michu: Completes Swansea switch
The 26-year-old, who scored 15 goals in the Primera Division last season, came through his medical on Thursday and has put pen to paper on a three-year deal subject to international clearance.

He becomes manager Michael Laudrup's third summer signing following the arrivals of defender Chico Flores and midfielder Jonathan de Guzman.

"To sign a player like Michu is fantastic for us when you look at the price and quality of the player."
    Michael Laudrup

Laudrup believes capturing a player, who had attracted the attentions of Manchester United, Liverpool, Sevilla and Valencia, for such a low fee represents great business for Swansea.
He said: "It's a fantastic signing. We are talking about a player who scored 15 goals in the Spanish league last year for a small club, who were saved by the bell in the last minute of the last game to avoid relegation.
"He was a big difference for them with his goals.

"We lost (Gylfi) Sigurdsson, who played in that position for half a season, so to sign a player like Michu is fantastic for us when you look at the price and quality of the player.
    "It is a bargain.
"When you see the big newspapers in Spain and people commentating on how we can sign a player like that for such a small amount of money, then the Spanish economy must be really bad.

"It's a very difficult moment for clubs in Spain in general and this signing shows that."
Unlike De Guzman and Flores, Michu has not previously worked with Laudrup, but said the chance to be coached by the Dane was too good to turn down.
He said: "I had other offers, but I really wanted to come to Swansea because of the coach, the style of play and the Premier League.
"I've always followed the Premier League from Spain and I watched a lot of Swansea games last season. They played good football and I liked their style.

"I also know how Michael Laudrup's teams play, so I'm looking forward to being part of that. The coach (Laudrup) was fundamental to me joining Swansea. I remember watching him as a player - he was a machine."
Laudrup added: "I am happy that the player wanted to come here because I was here. I have never worked with him and I haven't paid him!
"He has had a press conference in Madrid to say goodbye to Rayo Vallecano and he should join us for the tour to the USA."
Swansea will hope Michu's knack of scoring goals from midfield will help fill the space vacated by Sigurdsson's decision to join Tottenham rather than complete a permanent switch to the Liberty Stadium.

With the Spaniard being linked with a host of big name clubs, both in Britain and on the continent, the Swans moved quickly to get their man for a fee that comes in a long way below the reported release clause of around 3.1million in Michu's contract.
The Welsh club head out on their three-match tour of the United States on Sunday, following Saturday's friendly against Port Talbot, which will see midfielder Kemy Agustien return to action after an ankle injury.

Man United rebuffed in Moura bid

Brazilian outfit Sao Paulo insist that they have turned down an offer from Manchester United for Lucas Moura.

Lucas Moura: Reportedly subject of United bid
The midfield ace, who is currently in England with Brazil's Olympic squad, was reportedly the subject of a 35million (27million) offer from the Red Devils.
The Premier League giants are reported to have dispatched a delegation to Sao Paulo last week, led by chief scout Jim Lawlor, to try and broker a deal.

An offer is reported to have been made, but the Brazilian outfit say it is not enough, having already shunned approaches from Real Madrid and Inter Milan.
Director Marco Aurelio Cunha explained that they consider only Neymar would be worth more in Brazil, and with his valuation over 50millon it shows how highly Lucas is regarded by Sao Paulo.
"Manchester United made a very important offer of 35million but they would need to produce a little more," Cunha was quoted as saying by TMW.

"For us there is only Neymar worth more, after him is Lucas and we would not want to sell for less than this sort of value.
"For us it is still better to have a good player than lots of money in the bank."
Reports in Brazil suggested that Lawlor's delegation, as well as Sao Paulo, met Lucas' father with the permission of the club.
United, who are currently on tour in Africa, have not yet commented on the Lucas situation, either to confirm or deny an interest.

    Oscar to wait on move

Brazil midfielder has had Chelsea medical but not signed

Oscar: Dreams of playing in the Premier League but is staying focused on the Olympics

Brazil midfielder Oscar says he had a medical with Chelsea but will not decide on his future until after the Olympics.
The 20-year-old Internacional playmaker has been the subject of intense speculation linking him with a move to Stamford Bridge all summer, with reports suggesting he had undergone a medical earlier this week.

The player confirmed that himself on Friday night after starring in Brazil's 2-0 friendly win over Team GB in Middlesbrough, but was keen to point out that he has not signed a contract with Roberto Di Matteo's side.
Speaking through an interpreter, Oscar said: "I only had a meeting with the doctor, nothing else. I didn't sign any contract yet and I will wait until the end of the Olympic games to decide my future.
"All Brazilian players have this dream. I have, like everybody, the dream to play in Europe and the Premier League."
    Important

Oscar joined Internacional from Sao Paulo in 2009 and last summer scored a hat-trick in the Under 20 World Cup final as Brazil beat Portugal.
He told Brazilian reporters he had decided to stay with Internacional earlier in the week, but now seems open to a Chelsea switch.
He was adamant, though, that the Olympics remain his primary focus for now.

"It is like a dream for me, participating in the Olympics, it's so important for my career and I hope to win the gold medal here," he said.
"It was a good result tonight but we also have to improve and grow during the competition to reach the final.
"I am enjoying, it is not a pressure, I am focused on the Olympics but want to show the British fans that I can play well here."

    Blaszczykowski happy to stay

    Dortmund midfielder discussing new deal

Jakub Blaszczykowski: Enjoying life at Borussia Dortmund and talking about a new deal

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jakub Blaszczykowski has revealed he is in talks over extending his contract at the club.
The Poland international has been with Dortmund since 2007 and has helped the club win back-to-back Bundesliga titles in the past two seasons.
He also impressed at Euro 2012 and speculation has surfaced to suggest that a number of clubs across the continent are keeping tabs on his progress.

Blaszczykowski's current deal expires next summer but he insists he would be happy to stay and it is thought an extension could be sorted out during next week's training camp.
"I am under contract with Borussia Dortmund and I am feeling great," the 26-year-old said in kicker-Sportmagazin.
"We are actually in talks with Michael Zorc (Borussia Dortmund's general manager) regarding a new contract.
"I really have no trouble staying on for longer than (June) 2013.
"I have had five great years at this club thus far."

    Bantams pull off Connell swoop

Connell: Signs two-year deal with City

Bradford have completed the free transfer signing of winger Alan Connell from Swindon.
The 29-year-old has agreed a two-year deal with the Bantams after securing an early release from his contract at the County Ground.
Manager Phil Parkinson told the club website: "I'm delighted that we've managed to complete the signing of Alan. He's a terrific signing for us.

"He's a proven goalscorer and has a great track record in recent years.
"Alan is an intelligent player and will certainly add something extra to our attack."

    New Hibs deal for Antell

Goalkeeper says he has learned from loan spell

Pat Fenlon: Will be taking a closer look at Calum Antell in pre-season training

Hibernian goalkeeper Calum Antell has set his sights on playing regularly after putting pen to paper on a new one-year contract at Easter Road.
The 20-year-old has yet to make his competitive first-team debut for Hibs but enjoyed a successful loan spell with East Stirling, making more than 50 appearances.

He feels he is now a much better player and is looking to make a positive impression during pre-season.
"I felt I learned a massive amount during my time at East Stirling," he told the club's official website.
"Now I'm aiming to play as much as I can for Hibs and hopefully I will get some game-time during pre-season."

Antell was an unused substitute in Wednesday's 1-1 draw with Belgian side Lierse SK after coming off the bench for half an hour in last weekend's friendly with East Fife.
Ben Williams is expected to be Pat Fenlon's No.1 this season.

Wenger - I want to keep RVP

Arsenal captain will not go on pre-season tour to Asia
    Last Updated: July 21, 2012 11:22am

Robin van Persie: Will not be on Arsenal's pre-season tour but Arsene Wenger wants to keep him

Arsene Wenger remains determined to keep Robin van Persie at Arsenal, but the striker will not feature on the club's pre-season tour to Asia.

Van Persie stunned the Gunners earlier this month when he confirmed he would not be signing an extension to his contract, which has a further year to run.

The Netherlands international has been the subject of bids from Manchester City, Manchester United and Juventus, but the three clubs have yet to match Arsenal's valuation.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed his interest in the 28-year-old on Friday and there was speculation that Van Persie would refuse to go on Arsenal's trip to the Far East.

Arsenal have confirmed Van Persie is staying in England to 'work on his fitness' and Wenger is refusing to give up on his fight to keep his captain at Emirates Stadium.
    Desire

"For me, Van Persie is one of the best strikers in the world, if not the best, and my desire is to keep him at the club," Wenger told Arsenal Player.
"For me, Van Persie is one of the best strikers in the world, if not the best, and my desire is to keep him at the club."
Arsene Wenger Quotes of the week
"As for the rest I will do what is in the best interests of Arsenal Football Club. That, at the moment, is where we are. There is not a lot more to say than that."

However, after Arsenal lost the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri last summer, Wenger is wary of allowing the Van Persie situation to drag on given the wealth of interest in last season's Premier League top scorer.
Wenger added: "Robin was an exceptional leader last year but we know how much we had to fight to come third because we missed out the start of the season.
"After seven games we had lost four and we have learned that for us it is vital for us to focus on the start of the season rather than on any transfers.

"If the transfers happen, they happen. As long as you are at the club you give your best for the club and that is the only pride you can have as a football player and as a manager.
"As long as you are somewhere you give your best every day for that club. If it changes, it changes. I am convinced that Robin is like that, he is completely focused every day on his job. He loves football, he loves the game and as long as he is here he will do that."

    Mancini - Toure must decide

City boss questions whether Bursaspor can meet defender's demands
    Last Updated: July 21, 2012 9:55am

Kolo Toure: Manchester City defender must decide if he wants to join Bursaspor, according to Roberto Mancini

Roberto Mancini says it is up to Manchester City defender Kolo Toure to decide whether he wants to join Turkish club Bursaspor.
Toure has been unable to reclaim his first-team spot at City on a regular basis since returning from a six-month ban for failing a drugs test and he started only eight Premier League games last season.

Bursaspor revealed earlier this month that they were in talks over a deal for the 31-year-old, whose agent subsequently told Sky Sports that Toure's priority is to focus on a new season with City.

However, Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal are also keen on the Ivory Coast international and Mancini has suggested the centre-half has a decision to make on his future.
Mancini, though, also questioned whether Bursaspor would be able to afford Toure, who joined City in a 16million deal from Arsenal three years ago.
The City boss said in The Sun: "It's up to Kolo to decide if he wants to go to Bursaspor or not, however, can they meet his demands?"

    Wenger eyes new additions

Arsenal manager ready to trim his squad of the fringe players
    Last Updated: July 21, 2012 8:30pm

Lukas Podolski: Arsenal's striker in action for Germany during the Euros

Arsene Wenger has revealed he still plans to add some players to his squad but the number will depend on how many depart Arsenal this summer.
Wenger has already completed early deals for Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud, while his first-team squad has been further swelled by the return of players from loan spells.
The futures of these players remain uncertain and whether they stay or secure permanent deals away from the Emirates will have a direct impact on Wenger's spending.
    Squad

"We are still looking to add one or two players but it depends also on how many go out because we have to respect the squad," Wenger told Arsenal Player.
"It's important to respect that so before we get players in we have to get some players out. That has not happened yet, the market is very quiet.
"I cannot tell you anything concrete about the situation [regarding those who might be leaving] because if they are not finding clubs they will stay here and be players of the squad.
"At the moment I cannot give you any concrete or clear indication."
