RTL to launch new HD channel in Germany

German broadcast group Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland will launch a high-definition simulcast of its entertainment channel RTL Nitro in autumn 2012.
"We will offer RTL Nitro all platform operators also in HD quality with distribution to commence on the first networks in September," Marc Schröder, managing director of RTL interactive, told German newspaper "Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung" .
RTL Nitro launched on 1 April 2012 in standard definition. The free-to-air channel screens current and classic crime, action and comedy series, movies and documentaries.
RTL group's HD line-up currently comprises RTL, RTL II, VOX and Super RTL as well as pay-TV channel RTL Crime.
