PrimaCom receives first takeover offers

German cable operator PrimaCom has received its first acquisition offers. The bidding parties include Deutsche Telekom, DTK Deutsche Telekabel, Star Capital Partners and an unknown financial investor.

Financial Times Deutschland, which made the claim with reference to people familiar with the process, says that Deutsche Telekom has apparently submitted one of the highest bids: €250 to €280 million. Deutsche Telekom's takeover of PrimaCom would mark its re-entry into Germany's cable market. Star Capital Partners already owns German cable operator Pepcom.

With around one million served households, PrimaCom is Germany's fifth-largest cable operator. In May 2012 it became known that the shareholders - financial investors and banks - aim to accomplish a quick sale.

Unitymedia could also be interested in PrimaCom. The cable operator, which is in the hands of US media company Liberty Global, has already purchased PrimaCom's networks in the cities of Aachen and Wiesbaden four years ago.
