AMC to give DISH subscribers online access to Family Values, Hell on Wheels premieres

Despite the ongoing blackout of AMC Networks, DISH Network subscribers will still be able to access the premieres of AMC's Hell on Wheels and We TV's Braxton Family Values, via online streaming.
DISH, after refusing to pay increased carriage fees for AMC's content, saw AMC, IFC and We TV pulled from its lineup on 1 July, much to subscribers' chagrin: the AMC flagship network is a basic cable fixture, and home of popular series like Mad Men, Breaking Bad and the Walking Dead.
The move to offer Web access of two more popular shows is evidently a play by AMC for DISH subscribers' hearts and minds, in hopes of using consumer revolt as leverage against the satcaster.
"We've heard from many Dish subscribers who are upset about missing our programming so we are giving them an opportunity to watch these premiere episodes at the same time as the rest of the country," AMC said in a statement.
Hell on Wheels returns 12 August, and Braxton Family Values airs 16 August. The media company is offering DISH subscribers free registration for access to stream the premieres live at amctv.com/hellonwheels4dish and wetv.com/bfv-for-dish.
It's not a new strategy for the company: AMC live-streamed the Break Bad premiere for DISH subs in July.
