Fox Sports to launch exclusive feed in Colombia

Fox Sports is to launch an exclusive pay-TV channel in Colombia from early 2013, in a bid to consolidate its presence in the country.

Carlos Martinez, president of Fox International Channels Latin America, said: "This future release will allow us to consolidate our leadership in the sports world in this market and to offer our systems affiliates, advertisers and consumers a channel with the best content and the widest sports coverage of local interest."

The new channel will show worldwide sports such as the Barclays Premier League, Calcio Serie A, UEFA Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, Formula 1, Tennis ATP World Tour and UFC.

In addition, Fox Sports will be producing over 200 hours of local programming produced from the studios of Fox Telecolombia, which will have exclusive access to the Colombian teams in the Copa Santander Libertadores and Bridgestone Cup South America.

Raul Palma, SVP of programming and production for Fox Sports Latin America, said: 'This is the first Colombian sports channel. Through this new feed, we will broadcast the matches of the Colombian players in the major leagues in the world, such as Radamel Falcao at Atletico Madrid and Freddy Guarin at Inter Milan as well as original content produced in our facilities at Telecolombia Fox, including talk shows, sports analysis and pre-game shows of the most important games of the Copa Libertadores and Sudamericana."
