Nuri Sahin: Agreed season-long loan deal at Liverpool

A number of clubs, including Arsenal have been chasing Sahin, but Rodgers has won the race for the highly-rated Turkish international.
Sahin joined Real last summer from Borussia Dortmund, but he struggled to establish himself in Jose Mourinho's star-studded side.
Mourinho is happy to loan out Sahin as he wants him to get some regular first-team action under his belt.
Sahin is now set to undergo a medical at Anfield and if he comes through that he will become Rodgers' fourth signing of the summer.
A club statement read: "The 23-year-old will now undergo a medical on Merseyside."

Di Matteo rules out Luiz exit

Blues boss says there have been no approaches for defender
    Last Updated: August 25, 2012 9:46am

David Luiz: Not for sale at any price according to Roberto Di Matteo

Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo insists David Luiz is not for sale at any price at Stamford Bridge.
Luiz's future has been the subject of conjecture of speculation in recent days with Manchester City and Barcelona credited with an interest in the Brazilian.

City quickly played down suggestions of a move for Luiz, while Barcelona have been linked with a 30million move for the South American.
The central defender tweeted a photo of himself on a private jet and travelling to Barcelona to watch their match against Real Madrid fuelling rumours of a switch to Camp Nou.
However, Di Matteo insists there have been no approaches for Luiz and that the club have no plans to sell the former Benfica man.
"Luiz is part of our future. It's normal that he'll get interest because he's a Brazilian international centre back," admitted Di Matteo.

"There have been no approaches for Luiz and he's not for sale at any price. It doesn't concern me, the player will be here for the long term.
"I believe we can withstand Barcelona. Personally we don't feel any pressure from them. This club has been very successful in the past.
"I don't see why any players would want to leave us for anywhere else. We always compete for trophies. We're an ambitious club with an ambitious owner. We have great facilities.
"We have a great group of players who over the years have won a lot and still have the hunger to win more."

    Johnson joins Black Cats
    Last Updated: August 25 2012, 9:47 BST

Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill has completed a sensational deal to land Manchester City winger Adam Johnson.

    Adam Johnson: Has joined Sunderland
The England international has signed a four-year contract after the two clubs agreed an undisclosed fee.
O'Neill has been on the Easington-born midfielder's trail for several weeks after it became apparent that his days at the Etihad Stadium were drawing to a close, and his arrival on Wearside just hours after Wolves striker Steven Fletcher capped a good day for the Ulsterman.
A delighted O'Neill said: "Adding quality players to the squad has been our main aim this summer and Adam certainly fits that bill.

"He has terrific ability, great delivery and I'm sure he is a player who will excite our fans. I couldn't be more delighted to have him at the football club."
Johnson, 25, is a product of Middlesbrough's Academy and has won 12 full England caps to date.
However, he missed out on a trip to Euro 2012 and will hope his latest move could help to revive his international career.
Johnson played 96 times for first club Middlesbrough, scoring 13 goals, before he moved on to City in 2010.
But after 73 games, which produced 11 goals, he has now moved to Sunderland.

    Fiorentina dismiss Jovetic sale

Manchester City linked with big-money move for Montenegro star
    Last Updated: August 25, 2012 1:30pm

Stevan Jovetic: Impressive displays for Fiorentina have put the Montenegrin in the shop window

Serie A side Fiorentina insist Montenegro star Stevan Jovetic is not for sale following speculation linking him with Premier League champions Manchester City.
The 22-year-old attacking midfielder is thought to have emerged as one of Roberto Mancini's major transfer targets, although City are yet to table an offer ahead of Friday's transfer deadline.

But Fiorentina owners, the Della Valle family, are determined to keep one of their prized assets as they look to rebuild ahead of the new Italian season.
The Viola insist they want to make new signings, rather than lose their key players, and have been linked with Manchester United's Dimitar Berbatov and Arsenal's Nicklas Bendtner.

"Our owners have been very clear about Jovetic - he is not for sale," Fiorentina sporting director Daniele Prade told Italian television channel Rai 3.

"We are not one of Serie A's big clubs after two bad seasons, but we want to start again. It's a transition year."
He added: "We will take a striker and are looking for someone capable of scoring a lot of goals."

    Fergie plays down Herrera link

Utd boss denies all knowledge of approach for Mexican midfielder
    Last Updated: August 25, 2012 1:27pm

Hector Herrera: Helped Mexico to a gold medal at the 2012 Olympics

Sir Alex Ferguson has sought to distance Manchester United from reports suggesting they are looking to tie up a deal for Hector Herrera.
The 22-year-old midfielder caught the eye at the 2012 Olympics while turning out for Mexico.
United were among those said to be keen on bringing a man who collected a gold medal in London to the Premier League.
Herrera is currently turning out in his homeland for Pachuca.
    Speculation

Their sporting director, Andres Fassi, claimed that United and Liverpool were battling it out for Herrera's signature, with a switch to England all but guaranteed.
Herrera, though, claims to have no knowledge of an approach and Ferguson has now moved to play down reports linking the youngster with a move to Old Trafford.
"I don't know where that came from," he said.
    "Nothing's happening."

    Gers bring in Argyriou

Greek defender impressed during trial spell
    Last Updated: August 25, 2012 1:49pm

Anestis Argyriou: Snapped up by Ally McCoist as a free agent

Anestis Argyriou has become the latest signing at Rangers, with the Greek defender joining the first team set-up at Ibrox as a free agent.
The former U21 international has penned a two-year contract after impressing during a two-week trial.
He found himself without a club this summer after being released by AEK Athens.
Argyriou spent the last two seasons with the Greek giants, but found himself restricted to just 11 appearances.
    Clearance

He becomes the seventh summer arrival at Rangers, with the Old Firm outfit in the process of rebuilding after slipping into liquidation.
"Rangers have completed a deal for Greek defender Anestis Argyriou and the 24-year-old is set to go straight into the squad for tomorrow's game at Berwick," read a statement on the club's official website.
"He has done enough to convince Ally McCoist that he is worthy of a contract and he has successfully completed a medical and signed a two-year contract.
"International clearance has come through for Argyriou so he is free to be involved in the third league match of the season if McCoist wants him."

    Laudrup - Sinclair wasn't ready

New Swans boss unsure whether winger will stay
    Last Updated: August 25, 2012 3:57pm

Scott Sinclair: Expected to join Premier League champions Manchester City before Friday's transfer deadline

Swansea manager Michael Laudrup admitted winger Scott Sinclair was not in the right frame of mind to play in Saturday's 3-0 home win against West Ham.
Sinclair, 23, has been heavily linked with a move to Premier League champions Manchester City after refusing to sign a new contract at the Liberty Stadium.

He was left out of manager Laudrup's matchday squad against the Hammers, despite scoring when he came on as a substitute in the Swans' opening-day win at QPR.
But he was not missed as the South Wales club claimed their second win of the new season after goals from Angel Rangel, Michu and Danny Graham.
The Danish boss is unsure whether Sinclair will remain a Swansea player ahead of Friday's transfer deadline, but says he cannot wait for the window to close.
    Agreed

"Last week there was no problem, but in the last two or three days there have been a lot of things going around him," Laudrup told Sky Sports.
"Scott and I spoke on Friday and both agreed 100 per cent that this weekend he should stay out of the squad.

    Laudrup delighted with six points

"We will see what happens next weekend - if he stays he's back. If he leaves then we will have to take it from there."
On the chances of keeping Sinclair, he added: "I really don't know. What I do know going into the last week of the transfer deadline is I'm happy Friday is closer."
Swansea have made a fantastic start under new boss Laudrup, who replaced Liverpool-bound Brendan Rodgers in the summer, with the thumping 5-0 success at Loftus Road.

And a dominant display against newly-promoted West Ham maintained their 100 per cent start.
"Two games, six points and two clean sheets is fantastic," said Laudrup. "Although part of enjoying the game is we always have to analyse.
"We only suffered from set-pieces in the first half, but in the second half they maybe had one shot so we dominated completely.
"We want to move the ball around, make some runs, and that's how we scored the first goal."

Reds to listen to Cole offers

Midfielder could be on the move before transfer window closes
    Last Updated: August 25, 2012 10:16pm

Joe Cole: Liverpool are understood to be ready to listen to offers for the midfielder

Sky Sports understands Liverpool are ready to listen to offers for midfielder Joe Cole before the close of the transfer window.
Cole is back at Anfield after spending last season on loan at Lille and expressed his determination to impress new manager Brendan Rodgers earlier this summer.

However, injuries have impacted upon the 30-year-old's prospects after he was forced off midway through the first half of Rodgers' competitive debut against FC Gomel in the Europa League.
The injury jinx struck Cole again in the opening game of the Premier League season when he appeared as a substitute against West Brom, only to be replaced after barely 10 minutes on the pitch.
It is now understood that the Reds are prepared to respond positively to any interest in the former Chelsea schemer before Friday's transfer deadline.

Reds boss Rodgers has been busy improving his midfield options since taking charge and wrapped up the loan signing of Nuri Sahin from Real Madrid on Saturday.
Rodgers has also added Joe Allen, Fabio Borini and Oussama Assaidi to his squad this summer, leaving Cole with a battle to secure regular first-team football.
