TV Everywhere is on the rise, and the field statistics are starting to roll in to prove it. Adobe for instance has announced that its Adobe Pass technology for TV Everywhere authentication saw a 10-fold increase in the first half of 2012 in the United States, thanks to major sports events like NCAA March Madness, UEFA Euro 2012 soccer and the NBA playoffs.
It said that entertainment content from Disney and the Turner Broadcasting cable networks helped the figure along.
The second half of the year is likely to prove a banner event as well: Adobe Pass drove 88 million authenticated streams during the London 2012 Olympics, the company said.
Adobe is a good source for benchmarking: Adobe Pass is integrated by 150 pay-TV operators covering 98% of U.S. homes.
Adobe Pass offers consumers a "single sign-on" across multiple devices and Websites. A user sinply selects the relevant pay-TV provider and is then asked for the user name and password.
