Spanish-language broadcaster Entravision Communications is gearing up to cover the Democratic National Convention, which kicks off in Charlotte, N.C. this week, leveraging its local Latino TV affiliate on-air talent.

Entravision will tap news teams from its local affiliates to provide daily updates from the convention floor, while coverage will be broadcast around the country on Entravision's nightly newscasts. Entravision's correspondents have been actively using social media to update audiences in real-time on the activities from the Republican National Convention floor, and will do the same for the DNC.
"Our goal is to not only mobilise the Latino community to get out and vote come November, but also to create a more informed voting population who will make the most educated decision," said Walter Ulloa, Entravision's CEO. "Entravision's enhanced news coverage...over the next few weeks will focus on the issues that are most important to our viewers and the markets we serve, and ultimately make an impact on Election Day."
During the RNC, news teams from WVEA-TV Tampa and WVEN-TV Orlando (@wven) were led by veteran anchor Gonzalo Alvarado (@gonzalochalo73), Marina Marraco (@marinamarraco), Lorena Inclán (@lorena_inc), Natalie Perez and Ana Pereira.
In addition, Entravision's weekly public affairs show which debuted in March, Perspectiva Nacional con Armando Guzman, has temporarily relocated to include additional coverage from both conventions. The the show covering the RNC airs on Sunday, 2 September, and includes interviews with Hector Barreto, former administrator of the Small Business Administration, and Rosario Marin, former U.S. Treasurer.
In advance of the DNC next week, the show also includes an interview with the Chairman of the Democratic National Convention and current Mayor of Los Angeles, Antonio Villaraigosa. During the interview, Villaraigosa will offer his outlook on the Republican meetings in Tampa, along with a preview of what to expect from his party's upcoming convention.
Perspectiva Nacional will also be at the Democratic National Convention next week and will present interviews and information from important political personalities attending this event on its 9 September broadcast.
