Germany's two main commercial TV groups, ProSiebenSat.1 and RTL, will not take further legal action against the prohibition of their planned joint online video portal.
"We look ahead and will not further pursue the project," a ProSiebenSat.1 spokesman told Rapid TV News. He added that the company would be well positioned with its existing video-on-demand (VOD) services maxdome and MyVideo. "We will continue to further develop both portals."
RTL also said that it would not further pursue the project and instead expand its existing VOD portals.
The appeal court Oberlandesgericht Düsseldorf confirmed the prohibition of the joint video portal by RTL and ProSiebenSat.1 modelled on successful US platform Hulu in August 2012. The broadcasters said that they would consider taking legal action against the court ruling.
