Indian internet company Times Internet Limited (TIL) has announced the launch of BoxTV, a premium video service that will allow users to stream movies and TV shows directly onto their computer, smartphone or tablet.
The service, which is similar to Hulu and Netflix, will allow users to stream Bollywood and Hollywood films as well as video content in local languages like Tamil. BoxTV is currently in invite-only alpha stage testing, and is expected to be available to the public in the next few months.
Satyan Gajwani, CEO of TIL, said: "BoxTV is a product with a user-centric design approach, backed by a large content bank with anytime-anywhere access for subscribers. We are very excited about the launch and the roadmap for the next few months as we add more users and content.
TIL will have more than 30 content partners for BoxTV, with 12 of these being launch partners, including Sony Pictures, UTV and Shemaroo.
