Two years after kicking off in the US, Google TV will launch in France the week beginning 24 September based on a new Sony STB.

The box will allow users to connect their TV set to the internet, through cable or Wi-Fi, even though the device is not a connected TV. It will give access to all Google’s environment and line-up of apps along with Sony Entertainment Network’s library of music and videos.

The Google TV service also offers a browser allowing to surf the web while watching TV. All audiences are targeted through catch-up TV services like France Télévisions’s Pluzz, cooking lessons, kids games or online poker.

Embedding Google’s Chrome browser, the Sony’s box will be sold at the price of €199. A €299 version integrating a Blu-ray player is set to be release in the coming months.
