FUNimation, the market share leader for home video sales of Japanese animation in the United States, is bringing the FUNimation Channel for anime fare to the Roku set-top box.
FUNimation is partnering with Float Left Interactive to develop the channel.
"This partnership complements the strengths of each company involved, we look forward to working with the Float Left Interactive team to bring the most current and best anime to Roku." said Gen Fukunaga, president and CEO of FUNimation.
The FUNimation Roku Channel can be downloaded for free from the Roku Channel Store. Elite subscribers to the FUNimation channel will have instant access to thousands of the top anime episodes, commercial-free, in HD, and with new releases available the same day as DVD and Blu-Ray. Non-subscribers can watch select episodes for free.
Roku expands the channel's multiplatform strategy: it joins existing smartphone and tablet apps, and an upcoming Samsung Smart TV application.
