German sports broadcaster Sport1 has extended its partnership with the German handball federation by another four years. Sport1 will hold a comprehensive and exclusive rights package until the 2016/17 season.

The new agreement of which financial details have not been disclosed already covers the current 2012/13 season and contains the rights to all games of Germany's domestic league Handball-Bundesliga.

The broadcaster will transmit 100 matches live per season – 66 of them on its free-to-air TV channel Sport1 – while the other games will be shown for a fee on pay-TV channel Sport1+ and as a live-stream on the internet.

The live coverage package also contains the Super Cup which kicks off each new season, matches from the DHB Cup, the Final Four and the All Star Game.
