German entertainment channel Anixe wants to offer its viewers the possibility to access selected TV programmes on their TV set any time by pressing a button on the remote control.
For this purpose, the commercial broadcaster will launch a catch-up service on 1 December 2012 using interactive multimedia standard HbbTV.
The offering which will contain more than 1,000 hours of programmes will become available on HbbTV-compliant TV sets and set-top-boxes hooked up to the internet.
The channel will also expand its programme line-up: Anixe acquired a series and movie package from US broadcaster CBS containing, for example, all seven seasons of 1980's series "Dynasty" and all five seasons of "The Streets of San Francisco" from the 1970's. Both series will be shown from October 2012 in fully restored HD quality.
Anixe also purchased a package with documentaries from Parthenon Entertainment as well as children's and teenager series from m4e such as "Storm Hawks“, "Kamen Rider: Dragon Knight" and "Jett Jackson".
Anixe broadcasts in standard and high definition (HDTV) via cable, satellite, IPTV and DTT, for example on Astra (19.2° East), the cable networks of Kabel Deutschland, Kabel BW and NetCologne and on Deutsche Telekom's IPTV platform Entertain.
