AXN HD expands German distribution

Sony Pictures Television Networks Germany will distribute its pay-TV channel AXN HD on further platforms from autumn 2012.

The first new carriage to come into force will be at Sky Deutschland. The German pay-TV operator will distribute the action and entertainment channel from for its DTH satellite subscribers in the "Sky Welt" package from 4 October. Sky subscribers in Germany and Austria will then be able to receive a total of 59 HD channels.

On 15 October AXN HD will join Kabel Deutschland with carriage to take place in the "Premium HD" package. Germany's largest cable operator now has more than one million paying HD customers.

From 30 October, the channel will be available in Switzerland through Swissscable (QuickLine and Digital Cable Group), reaching additional 400,000 countries in the Alpine country.

The next programme highlights will be the fifth season of US drama series "Breaking Bad" which AXN HD will show from 4 October and the new US comedy series "House of Lies" to be screened from 22 November.

From 12 December, the channel will show the fifth series of US crime series "Dexter". Early 2013, the fifth season of US drama comedy "Californication" will follow. All series will be shown for the first time on German television.
