Mexico is set to have a new satellite pay TV operator. The country’s Federal Telecommunications Commission (COFETEL) has given the green light for Grupo Salinas’ Elektra Satelital to launch a new satellite pay TV platform soon.

During a recent COFETEL meeting, its members decided to endorse the request of the operator to obtain permission to install, operate and exploit a public telecommunications network, providing services that would allow the transmission of signals in satellite TV mode Subscription Direct to Home (DTH).
