No. 9 Elmhurst extends win streak, jolting No. 13 Chicago, Endicott

CHICAGO, Ill. – Elmhurst, ranked ninth in the latest AVCA Division III national poll, ran its winning streak to eight by toppling Endicott and 13th-ranked Chicago at the Chicago triangular.
Elmhurst opened the triangular with a 25-16, 25-15 Maroons in four sets (25-27, 25-14, 25-19, 25-18). The Bluejays improved to 17-4 on the season with the wins.
Elmhurst made short work of Endicott with a three-set victory.
Megan Reynolds led the way for Elmhurst with 19 kills while Sam Szarmach added nine kills while Antonéya Veasy Smith and Kaitlyn Wilks finished with seven kills apiece. Wilks totaled a team-leading six blocks. Erin Thill totaled a team-leading 28 assists and four aces while Katie Rueffer added 14 assists. Hannah Lessen added eight digs while Szarmach totaled seven for the Bluejays.
After dropping the opening set 27-25, the Bluejays won the next three sets to defeat the 13th-ranked Maroons for the second time this season.
Reynolds pounded down 13 kills and registered seven blocks to lead the Bluejays’ attack. Wilks added 12 kills while Veasy Smith reached double digits with 10 kills. Thill totaled a team-leading 28 assists while Reuffer finished with 18. Dana Loncar finished with a team-leading 19 digs while Lessen and Szarmach finished with 16 apiece. Veasy Smith added three blocks while Thill totaled three aces.
