German commercial TV group ProSiebenSat.1 wants to equip its general interest channel ProSieben with a spin-off service for men.
The free-to-air channel dubbed ProSieben Maxx will launch 2013, the broadcaster announced at its Capital Markets Day in Munich.
The new channel will target high-income male viewers. The core target group is between 45 and 59 years of age. The launch date of Sat.1 Gold has also been revealed: The spin-off service of general interest channel Sat.1 which targets well-funded, mainly female viewers between 49 and 64 years of age, will go on air on 17 January 2013.
The two new free-to-air channels will complement women's channel sixx which ProSiebenSat.1 launched in May 2010. With the moves, the TV company wants to give advertising customers further possibilities to specifically target more tightly defined audience groups.
