Colombia’s National Television Authority (ANTV) has accepted 18 of the 22 licence applications submitted to the pay-TV competition authorities.

Out of this total, two were considered as not complying with the conditions and two were rejected outright.

At present, there are already 44 commercial licensees recognised by ANTV. Alexandra Falla, a Commissioner on ANTV's board said that this award 'will have a significant impact' and that 'users will have more options to choose from'.

Moreover, the regulator has extended the deadline until 6 November to apply for renewal of their licences. It says that ‘several operators' have expressed their 'intention not to renew' and 'return frequencies' that are assigned.
