German media industry on growth course

VPRT, the industry association of Germany's commercial broadcasters, expects radio and television to grow in 2012 in all market segments.
In radio advertising, the association predicts a turnover growth of around 2% compared with last year, for TV advertising an increase of around 1.5%.
For the area of online advertising, VPRT expects a growth of around 8% and for mobile advertising of around 32%. For home-shopping, a rise of around 5% is predicted and in the market of pay-TV and paid-for video-on-demand (VOD) a growth of around 12% is expected.
VPRT expects rising turnover to continue in 2013 in all market segments with most dynamic growth predicted for advertising-financed audio and video offerings on all interactive platforms as well as for pay-TV and VOD services.
"We currently see a particularly dynamic development in online radio, audio-on-demand, video-on-demand and pay-TV," VPRT president Jürgen Doetz said in Munich. "We expect this trend to continue and see good market perspectives for radio and TV next year and beyond."
