TelcoTV event rebrands as TelcoVision, with an expanded focus

Well-known North American IPTV and broadband event TelcoTV has decided that it's time for a change: the show, which focuses on issues facing Tier 2, Tier 3 and rural communication service providers, will be re-named TelcoVision. And, it will expand its focus beyond video service.
"Even as we change our name to TelcoVision, we remain dedicated to the market that we've served for over a decade – broadband network service providers," said Carol Wilson, program chairwoman, TelcoVision. "While public focus often centers on the largest telecom players, there are hundreds of medium and small operators who are not only driving innovation and collectively purchasing large volumes of equipment and software, but also playing a significant role in the broadband future of the U.S. To meet their changing needs, TelcoVision will encompass video services, wireless options and business opportunities such as Ethernet and cloud, delivering the latest information on technology, business strategies and market success stories."
TelcoVision will build on the legacy TelcoTV has established over a decade, with a pivot examining how smaller telcos can transform their networks into all-IP broadband engines. TelcoVision will continue to focus on video opportunities, including monetising OTT video and exploring new revenue opportunities in the video realm through targeted advertising, and the incorporation of social media and new applications.
The name change goes into effect at the close of this week's TelcoTV 2012.
TelcoVision will remain jointly owned by UBM TechWeb, the global leader in technology media and professional information, and the NTCA, the premier national advocate and essential partner for independent, rural, community-based communications providers.
